What goes into making hot dogs? The first thing that comes to my mind is that Simpsons episode entitled ‘Lisa the Vegetarian’, where Lisa imagines the ingredients to be rat tail, raccoon feet, pigeon head, and boot tongue. Now that’s silly, but in a new study chemists find they may contain DNA-mutating compounds.

So kids - eat more hot dogs and perhaps one day you can be just like your favorite comic book hero. This is a great thing since I love hot dogs and I wouldn’t mind having Magneto’s magnetic mutant power. As long as I don’t end up with some cruddy super power like Whirlwind. Who wants to spin around real fast all the time?

Just thinking about mutant hot dogs got me thinking. Does anyone remember the Frankenstuff hot dogs from about 20 years ago? It was a hot dog that had built in cheese or chili - kinda like a Twinkie. I had it once and it was pretty good, but I like a lot more toppings on my hot dog - including mustard, ketchup, chili, relish, cole slaw and jalapenos. Mmmmmmm… all this talk about food is making me hungry.
